I didn't really plan it this way, but this turned into the week of baby shower cakes... ending with the Chevron Baby Shower Cake with a Monogram.
First was the Gray & Yellow Baby shower cake done for my sister-in-law.
Then there was the Simple Chocolate Buttercream Monkey Baby Shower cake.
And of course... although it wasn't a baby shower cake... there was a beautiful baby featured in my Thanksgiving Cupcakes post! 😉
So why not finish off the week with one last baby shower cake? This cake was also during those couple of weeks in August when my camera was not working. I took all of these photos either with my phone or an old point-and-shoot. And they're not too shabby considering!
For the chevrons, I printed out a chevron pattern (I searched for chevron patterns on Swagbucks then browsed the images until I found one that I liked).
Then I used wax paper and a method similar to the ones I found on MyCakeSchool.com to cut them out with an Xacto blade.
For the pearl border on top, I used silicone pearl molds (love those!!). Then for the monogram, I used plaque cookie cutters from CheapCookieCutters.com.
For the letter... I hand cut it. I didn't like any of the letter cutters that I had - I wanted something more formal, so I just printed out a good block "K" and cut it out with my Xacto blade. It was tedious but worth it!!
This cake was simple but elegant and I just love the way it turned out!! The flavor was White Almond Sour Cream with Vanilla Almond Buttercream (Vanilla Buttercream with added Almond Extract).
And that's it!! Do you have any questions about this cake? Leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer!

Such a beautiful baby shower cake you made. You do such beautiful, professional work in all your celebration cakes. I'm using your recipe for the White Almond Sour Cream Cake for one of our desserts for Thanksgiving and have a question on the vanilla almond buttercream frosting. How much added almond extract did you add to the vanilla buttercream frosting? We all love almond cake so I thought this would be the appropriate time to make this cake for the holiday.

I usually add 1-2 tsp. per batch of buttercream. It really depends on how strong you like the almond flavor! And thank you - you're comments are very sweet 🙂
